From the north coast of Finistère, the Roscoff pink onion is of the Allium cepa variety. We buy direct from a long standing orgnaic farmer who nurtures the ancient variety called 'Armorique Rose', firstly brought to Roscoff by a Portuguese monk in 1762. This variety thrives in the unique geological environment of the Pink Granite Coast developing a unique taste and texture loved by chefs all over the world.

Harvested between July and September, it now boasts an AOC and a PDO certification. Equally good cooked or raw, the Roscoff pink onion has a unique taste, fragrant, but not too strong on the palate.

Rich in vitamin C, the Roscoff pink onion is particularly good for the health, supplying large amounts of this nutrient. In addition, it is said to have antioxidant properties and may protect against certain diseases.

Voyage: sailed on Ibis on 21st-22nd Septembre 2024 from Roscoff to Plymouth. This marks Ibis maiden voyage after her restoration.
